Joi Bowling was born and raised in the great state of New Jersey. She grew up singing at the Sixth Street Baptist Church and surrounding churches. “At a young age I knew God had given me a song in my heart that I could not contain,” says Joi with a smile, reflecting on her musical childhood.
In 2000, Joi started attending Liberty University in Virginia, majoring in Psychology. She continued to sing throughout her education. She was involved in the LU Gospel Choir and a new ministry team called Chosen. In 2002, Joi joined on with the Sounds of Liberty, Liberty University’s premier scholarship traveling ministry team, where she met her husband and best friend, JB. Joi and JB were married in 2004 after graduation. While at Liberty, Joi was a featured soloist on the Old Time Gospel Hour.
JB and Joi relocated to San Diego, California in 2005 to serve at Shadow Mountain Community Church, where God has continued to bless and grow their ministry. She travels with Turning Point Ministry and Pastor David Jeremiah all over the country and can be seen on the Turning Point television broadcast.
Joi realizes that every opportunity to sing is a blessing from God. “I have found a Savior and friend in Jesus Christ. I have found Hope. It is my mission to encourage and tell as many people as I can about the undying love of Jesus.”
